I was casually familair with Gerard Way and My Chemical Romance, but I loved the The Umbrella Academy comic series, so I simply had to know more. Flash forward more than a decade later and TUA has become a super popular - and amazing - Netflix series, despite Way originally thinking it was too dull to be on screen.
