Misc Writings > Movie > Decapitarium Script

Former co-worker and indie filmmaker Jeff Dunn - who now teaches and works at Lone Star College in Texas - had asked me to help write a 3-D horror film project back in 2006. Even though I wasn't really a fan of the genre, I jumped at the opportunity to write a movie. His basic concept was a scientist who built a robot that was decapitating people, and he wanted it to be in digital 3-D. The story evolved to feature a university student who discovers a professor is building experimental robots that are decapitating people and harvesting their brains in an effort to bring his wife back to life. I was told we'd try to sell it to Tromo, so I really dug into it being a bit of a comedic B-movie.

I wrote the initial treatments and a first full draft of the script (the latter of which is embedded below). Jeff was finally able to make the movie with college students nearly 20 years later. To accommodate the production, the story and characters changed but some of the themes and a few characters survived, er, made it into the final film. The name also changed from my suggested "Decapitron 3-D" to "Decapitarium" after the 3-D aspect was abandonded.

Decapitarium (IMDB) was first released 2021 and is available to stream on FUBU, Plex, Roku and Fawsome (as of May 15, 2025).
